1961 Given a Leica camera by his tutor.

Started his career as a freelance photographer.

1967-69 Involved in filming Me and my Brother by Robert Frank.
Stopped taking commercial photographs. Started to take photographs for SOMNAMBULIST.
1969 1969 Opened his studio and established a publishing company 'Lustrum Press' in New York.
1970 1970 Published SOMNAMBULIST (Lustrum Press).
First solo-exhibition.
1971 Took photographs in France and in UK. Started to take photographs for L'HISTOIRE DE FRANC
Published Deja-vu (Lustrum Press).
1973 1973 Given the award of National Endowment for the Arts for the first time. Got various fellowships.
Started to prepare for Days at Sea.
1974 Published Days at Sea (Lustrum Press).
1975 Second award of the National Endowment for the Arts.
1976 Solo exhibition at Castelli Graphics, New York.
1977 Sponsored by New York State Council of the Arts, C.A.P.S.(Creative Artists Public Service) fellowship.
1978 Solo-exhibition at the Center for Creative Photography.
1979 D.A.A.D. fellowship by West Berlin, Germany.
1980 Group exhibition at MOMA, New York.
1982 Solo-exhibition at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris.
1984 Solo-exhibition at Weston Gallery, California.
1987 Inaugurated as Officer de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for his contribution to the French culture.
Third award of the National Endowment for the Arts.
